A lot has been said of who should replace Pat Rice this summer, lots of former players names have been put in the hat and their achievements talked about at length but very little has been spoken about Rice as is generally the case with retiring players and coaches of great stature.
I’d like to think about Pat Rice as one of the greatest servants of the club. He has served the club for 44 years in which he’s made 528 appearances as a player which alone ranks him as one of the greatest to put on an Arsenal shirt. Furthermore he’s spent 28 years as a coach which only adds to his repertoire as a legend.
Pat Rice came through the youth ranks and made his first appearance for Arsenal in 1968. He was a mainstay in the defense throughout the 70s during which he played 5 FA Cup finals(A feat achieved by only Ray Parlour ...
