Afellay told he is not in Barcelona’s plans

Linked with Arsenal over the summer, the Metro is now reporting that Ibrahim Afellay has been told that he should look for football away from Barcelona after spending a lot of his time at the Nou Camp receiving treatment for a cruciate knee ligament injury since he signed for the Catalan club in January 2011.
The player, according to the report in Metro, has been informed by new Barcelona manager, Tito Villanova, that he is no longer in the club’s plans.
With Arsenal fixtures about to start coming thick and fast, the need to get new players in and up to speed couldn’t be higher but are Arsenal likely to bring Afellay in? He’s a close friend of Robin van Persie’s and many had said, when Afellay was first linked with Arsenal FC, that his fellow Dutchman could be used as a lure.  Where Arsenal stand now that van Persie has defected to Manche...
