The football gods have gifted Arsenal a mulligan after yesterday’s putrid performance against Norwich City, as top-four challengers Tottenham and Newcastle both dropped points Sunday. Though Newcastle was widely expected to go down to Manchester City, who only need to win out to secure the league title, Spurs followed the Gunners’ lead in failing to deliver when it mattered most. After going down early to relegation-threatened Aston Villa on the road, Harry Redknapp’s side was forced to play a man down after Danny Rose was sent off in somewhat controversial fashion. Despite the man-disadvantage, Spurs spent virtually the entire second half in the final third but only managed to equalize on an Emmanuel Adebayor penalty shot.
