Barcelona have confirmed through club spokesman Toni Freixa that they do not intend to sign Arsenal captain and talisman Robin van Persie this coming summer.
The Dutchman has been at the top of his game this season and has deservedly received top accolades for his performances, most recently being the PFA and FWA Player of the Year awards.
Rumours over his departure were naturally exaggerated by the media last week when Van Persie was spotted entering the hotel Barca were residing at before their clash with Chelsea.
The Dutchman publicly stated in response to these accusations that he was only there to catch up with international team-mate and friend Ibrahim Afellay, after all he is allowed a social life outside football.
