Although there is still no confirmation forthcoming from the authorities, it is believed that Theo Walcott has suffered broken ribs after a bad tackle by the opposition goalkeeper in yesterday’s match against San Marino. In a tackle straight out of the Harald Schumacher playbook, San Marino Aldo Simoncini took out Walcott as he was bearing on goal but the referee did not even see fit to give England a penalty or free kick. In the end, Walcott had to leave the pitch on a stretcher and spent the night in the hospital. This is bad news for the Gunners just as the England winger was coming into form this season. It is likely that he will miss at least two to three weeks of League action.
