Arsenal forward Emmanuel Adebayor has claimed the Confederation of African football's player of the year award today. Egyptial starlet Mohamed Aboutrika finished runner up with the African national team coaches having the final say on who wins the award. The Arsenal man notched an impressive 74 points, enough to take the award. This award ofcourse recognises the striker's impressive feats over the course of the year, bagging goals for his nation in the World Cup qualifiers and scoring 24 premier league goals for the Arsenal last season. His form has dipped this season, and has come in for some criticism, wholly justified in my view as since he has earnt his new bumper £85k a week contract his work rate has dropped considerably. However his achievement over the course of the year (including last season) can't be questioned as he worked like a warhorse in each game and he deserves the award overall. Well done Adebayor.
