Bordeaux reject Arsenal opening bid for Chamakh

Bordeaux president Jean-Louis Triaud has confirmed Arsenal have made their move for much coveted striker Marouane Chamakh. Yesterday the outspoken Triaud admitted Arsene Wenger called him with a view to making an offer for the 25-year-old, claiming Chamakh was on a list of strikers the Arsenal manager was interested in bringing to the Emirates to plug the gap left by Emmanuel Adebayor. Today however Triaud has claimed Arsenal's opening offer for Chamakh wasn't nearly sufficient enough to prize him away from the Ligue 1 champions (believed to be in the region of £5m say the Mirror), but did hint at a possible quick deal if Arsenal come back with a bid worthy of the striker's talents:"I dare not tell you how much Arsenal have offered, bnt because it's Arsenal a fair price is guaranteed, as Arsene Wenger knows the true value of Chamakh."That doesn't seem to be the case right now, but if he returns with an acceptable offer, it is important we conclude the deal quickly".
