Gallas Launches Press Silence In Protest Against Domenech

France defender William Gallas has launched a silent protest against coach Raymond Domenech's decision to not name him captain by refusing to speak to the press.

Regular skipper Thierry Henry is expected to be on the substitute's bench throughout World Cup 2010, which has left the role up for grabs.

The Arsenal defender was expected to wear the armband, but Manchester United's Patrice Evra was favoured in the recent friendlies against China and Costa Rica.

A spokesman for the France team announced to the press today: "William has decided not to speak with the media throughout the World Cup."
