Andrei Arshavin had a night to remember in an astonishing 4-4 draw between Arsenal and Liverpool tonight at Anfield. The Russian netted 4 goals, all against the run of play it has to be said. Arsenal came with a game plan to counter attack as they knew Liverpool would fire out the traps and come out all guns blazing in their bid for the title. From the first minute to the last Arsenal were under pressure, but an outstanding performance from Arshavin was the plus point in a game really which exposed Arsenal's lack of intensity, desire, drive, hunger, ability to protect leads, and even a willingness to protect leads.Torres tortured Silvestre all night, Benayoun gave us countless problems too. Arsenal couldn't live with Liverpool tonight yet still had to lead THREE times, at 1-0, 3-2, and 4-3 with 2 mins left on the clock in injury time. Yet even when Arshavin showed unbelievable drive to support Theo Walcott, latch on to his pass and fire past Reina we STILL conceded in the dying seconds. Why couldn't we just hoof the ball away and play it in the corners, why couldn't we just batter the ball into row z and re-organise like Vieira or Adams would have, why play pitter patter football in the penalty area with a minute left on the clock with us winning 4-3. It's unforgivable. I feel so sorry for the lad, he worked his socks off, yes he had a quiet first half but he exploded in the second when it mattered, he must be going home thinking what more could I do to get the win. Liverpool scored at will, it was like no matter how many goals we scored we werent too bothered about protecting it, we only had 3 players in the box when benayoun smashed home the equalizer at 4-4. Sorry for sounding so exhausted as this definately won't be one of my best post's, but i've lost 95% of my voice and have definately aged a few years tonight. I dont care about the Boro game, get it out the way I wanna see if we can do the business against Man Utd in the semi, WITHOUT Arshavin, who has shown tonight just how important he is, given his short Arsenal career. We've got to defend better against United. Forget all this, we need Bassong bollocks, or any other defender, lets leave that till the summer, we need to sort out our midfield and defence for Old Trafford, because though we came with a 4-5-1 formation I saw nothing but green Anfield grass which was exploited by a rampant Liverpool. I'm not recovering from this result until we take Man Utd out the champions league.
