Wenger chasing Argentinian midfielder

After losing out to Juventus for the services of Felipe Melo, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is reportedly lining up another target in the shape of Ever Banega. The Valencia defensive midfielder has been on loan throughout last season at Athletico Madrid and has made it clear he holds no plans to return to the Mestalla. Mercafutbol go on to claim he would be available for a price well within Arsenal's current budget, citing an estimate of £3m. It seems like a straight choice between Banega and St Ettiene's Blaise Matuidi as Wenger looks to add some steel to Arsenal's midfield. Personally I would like to see either arrive. Banega at 21 is very composed on the ball, loves to get stuck in and has all the qualities of a holding midfielder along with a good range of passing. Blaise Matuidi has long been touted as the new Makalele and it's not hard to see why, he has a genuine passion for breaking up play and releasing the ball at the right moments. The bottom line is Melo snubbed us. I'm only interested in players who want to play for Arsenal and fight for the shirt.Matuidi has said on many occassions he dreams of a move to Arsenal, those are the kind of players who will play their heart out and give us the opportunity to challenge next year.
