There seems to have been a resurgence in faith ever since Arsene Wenger addressed the striking issue at the club. Ever since he admitted he may have to dip into the market, every striker and their mother in law's have been touted as possible Van Persie replacements. However, a closer look at what's available doesn't exactly light up faces. Carlos Vela, harshly treated in my view, with fans a little too quick to jump on his back after the player hasn't even featured in a handful of games this season. What is clear though, is whilst he is a growing talent, he's certainly not the man to fill Van Persie's boots this season. Eduardo unfortunately is susceptible to little niggles here and there, so the logical thing to do would be to buy a striker. Wenger has been known in the past to change his mind pretty quickly, and this could be the case should the side put in a string of successful wins from now till Jan, and why shouldn't he? First and foremost he believes in the team and should they get their confidence back and return to winning ways, I see no need to panic buy. The key words for me were when he said "However we will only make a decision if it suits us" - Don't be surprised if he lands no one in the window. Walcott could be deployed as a striker and start banging in goals and everyone will suddenly be lauding him and forgetting our striking dilemma, in a flash. Referring earlier to the players available, Chamakh, a top talent no doubt and is the type of striker we need, but his club are never going to sell mid season when he's become such an integral cog for them and could steer them further in the Champions League and Ligue 1 this year. Van Nistelrooy - Proven goal scoring exploits have led him to be one of our top targets according to the media, however at 33 years of age, the inability to come short and play the Arsenal way is doubtful, being a box player won't be enough. Looking at the Chelsea game we stuttered in the final 3rd every time, running out of options, Van Nistelrooy for me won't do anything Eduardo can't. With Gignac too fat and Balotelli not going anywhere as confirmed by the Inter president, (and if he was he'd command a hefty price tag) it leaves Arsene's options pretty thread bare. If thing's do continue as they are, I do believe Carlton Cole would be a top signing. He will run all day, scare defences and would relish the opportunity to play in the Champions League for a huge club. His finishing isn't too shabby either, curbed by Wenger he could flourish and bring that bit of life into the side lacking right now. I truly believe that. Whether he can shake off his knee injury soon and whether or not his club would be willing to sell is another matter. I also believe signing Victor Moses from Palace for £1m would be a steal if reports are to be believed. He's got everything a striker should possess and is one for the future. Not saying he'd be our savior but for £1m he should be snapped up. Or will the boss have another trick up his sleeve, do the unthinkable, and bring back a man he has regular contact with, a legend in fact, Thierry Henry.
