Gunners Swiss international Johan Djourou has been urged to consider his future at the Emirates by his countries manager Ottmar Hitzfeld if the central defender wants to play more consistently on the international stage.
The 25-year-old, who recently signed a three-year contract extension, has played second-fiddle to the likes of Thomas Vermaelen, Laurent Koscielny and summer purchase Per Mertesacker, and this certainly has impacted his chances of international football with the defender only able to make a late cameo against Germany in Switzerland’s friendly.
Hitzfeld made a point of noting that Djourou’s exclusion from the first XI was due to his lack of match practice, with the Arsenal man replaced by ex-team mate Philippe Senderos and Cesena’s Steve Von Bergen at the heart...
