According to the Daily Mail, Arsenal are closing in on Ligue 1′s most prolific striker Olivier Giroud after lodging a £13m bid for the French international, which reportedly triggers a £12.8m release clause in his contract.
Reports are suggesting that the Gunners have also offered the services of Marouane Chamakh in a cash-plus-player deal that will see the out-of-favour striker leave the Emirates after having a largely ineffective Arsenal career.
Giroud has been linked throughout the season with Arsenal with it being reported that Wenger sent scouts to watch the the Frenchman playing throughout the season for Montpellier, with the striker overall scoring a massive 25 goals to help his club towards winning the Ligue 1 title.
