Arsenal Rumours: RvP could be doing ‘a Rooney’

The Daily Mail have revealed a ‘close Arsenal source’ has suggested the club is hopeful their star man Robin van Persie will perform a Rooney-like U-turn this summer and sign a new contract.
The Manchester United forward notoriously went public with his displeasure at his clubs direction and his unhappiness in 2010 resulting in a transfer request, but days later signed a new contract at Old Trafford with a much improved pay increase.
The report suggests Kees Vos, Van Persie’s tricky agent, may well have been behind the statement released on the Dutchman’s official website last week, that announced the striker would not be signing a new contract with the club next summer meaning he will become a free agent.
