Arsenal have beaten stiff competition from North London rivals Tottenham to secure the services of Real Madrid midfielder Nuri Sahin on loan, reports the Daily Mail. The 23 year-old was earlier expected to be used as a makeweight in Luka Modric's move to Spain, fuelling rumours that the 23 year-old could join Spurs for a year.
The Turkish international is a graduate of the youth academy of German champions Borussia Dortmund. Having made his senior debut in 2005, Sahin played an integral role in Dortmund's 2010-11 Bundesliga triumph. He was subsequently snapped up by Spanish giants Real Madrid last summer but failed to gain regular action, making just 4 La Liga appearances last season.
