Arsenal vs FC Cologne report: Podolski’s brace help Gunners to easy 4-0 victory

In their final warm-up match before the new season, the Gunners strolled to an easy 4-0 victory over FC Cologne in Germany. Goals by Thomas Vermaelen, Lukaz Podolski (2) and Gervinho send Arsenal back to London with much optimism for the new campaign starting next Saturday.
In the first half, Arsenal Wenger showcased all three of his new summer signings with Oliver Giroud and Lukaz Podolski taking their place up front while the very versatile Santi Cazorla took up the attacking midfield position. There were also places for Walcott, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Coquelin, Yennaris and Gibbs. Vermaelen and Mertersacker filled the two central defensive position and Vito Mannone played in goal.
