Carlos Vela – Arsenal’s Mexican Fella – A Tribute

Carlos Vela is now certain to leave Arsenal this Summer on a permanent deal. Over the years Arsene Wenger has been famed for his great ability to develop and nurture talent. The production line of young players he has made World-Class at Arsenal stretches from Nicolas Anelka to Robin Van Persie, with plenty of names in between. Sadly Vela will not join them.
Arsenal fans had to wait a while for our Mexican starlet to come to the Club. Not having a European passport he went off to Spain before he was finally granted a work permit to join up. I was there the night he made his full debut against Sheffield United in the Carling Cup. A lot of the focus that night was taken by Jack Wilshere, but Vela upstaged him with a stunning hat-trick.
