Over the last couple of games Robin van Persie has come in for a fair bit of criticism. Klaas-Jan Huntelaar is his competition for the Netherlands, and as the Bundesliga’s top scorer last season, he has a decent claim to be Bert van Marwijk’s first choice striker.
Holland 0-1 Denmark
Robin van Persie started the game and did not really play well. He missed a couple of chances that you could quite easily have expected him to do better from. The first time he fluffed his lines, van Persie received a simple enough, deflected cut back about 13yds out slightly to the left of the goal, under no pressure whatsoever. Despite the chance being an easy one, the Arsenal captain did not even manage to stretch the ‘keeper, putting the ball a good two yards wide of the post with his favoured left foot.
