Diaby: I am Different From Alex Song.

After a man of the match honour at Anfield, Abou Diaby spoke about his role in midfield, comparing his role to that of Yaya Toure and not Alex Song as many people think.

Diaby who had featured more for Arsenal this season than he did for the whole of last season, had laid claims he wasn't Alex Song's replacement but tipped Arteta and Coquelin for the defensive midfield position.

“In our teams, Yaya Toure and me have very similar roles,” Diaby told the Press Association after Sunday’s 2-0 victory at Anfield.

“I am not like Alex Song. We have many players who can take his place like Francis Coquelin or Mikel Arteta, who likes to play deep. I want to get forward – that’s me.
