Five at the back and still attack?

Good evening Gooners, two wins in a week has certainly lifted the spirits just as we enter the international break. It’s going to be somewhat of a tactical blog from me today as I look at our current formation, it’s strengths and the possibility of change.

    The current formation we play is essentially 4-2-1-3. We have used this since Cesc was here when he played in the ‘Santi’ role as I’ll call it from now on. The attacking midfielder is supported by a holding midfielder and a box to box midfielder. Last season the two wingers would exchange positions but rarely move to the centre forward position. This season though our front three have been more fluid interchanging positions.
