Giroud transfer more Wiltord than Chamakh?

Everyone seems to be cock-a-hoop this morning at the news that Olivier Giroud is about to sign for us. Only I seem to remember writing a story a few weeks ago saying that everybody was cock-a-hoop that Giroud was about to sign for us. Although I probably didn’t use the phrase cock-a-hoop.
So hang on. What’s changed? Why is the story back? Presumably he must now have actually signed for us. But no. Apparently not. The news cycle is a confusing beast these days.
