It is probably time to welcome Captain Vermaelen permanently

Thomas Vermaelen has been given the Arsenal team captaincy by Arsene Wenger for the squad pre-season Asia tour amidst the on-going saga of Robin Van Persie’s transfer from the club. News coming from North London suggests that Arsene Wenger did not want to take the striker with the team as he was afraid that it would impede into preparations for the new season and also team unity. This suggests that Arsene does not believe that RVP will be with the club next season.
