Manchester United Chief Executive takes ownership of Van Persie transfer project

With Manchester United having already made two unsuccessful bids reportedly worth £10 million and £15 million for Arsenal skipper Robin van Persie, it now appears that United chief executive David Gill has himself stepped into the picture in an attempt to push the deal through, revealed the Telegraph this morning.
Van Persie is all but certain to leave the Gunners this summer and the striker is believed to be favouring a move to United over Juventus and Manchester City. But Arsene Wenger remains adamant about not wanting to sell a top star to his rival Sir Alex Ferguson and would prefer the Dutchman move abroad than to a rival English club. But United could lay their hands on Van Persie's signature if they up their offer to £20 million at the very least.
