Robin van Persie: A reaction

I started this post after news broke on twitter that our ‘captain’ Robin van Persie is very close to joining Manchester United for a fee of around £20m – £25m pounds following weeks of public courting by his agent, Sir Alex and Wayne Rooney. The trigger, of course, was his infamous “update for the fans” released on July 4 which thrashed the club, the CEO and the manager. The statement publicly questioned the “direction” the club was heading and the general tone of it was arrogant, deceitful and thoroughly unbecoming of from a Club captain. However, it achieved one of its aims: a big money move to another club.
