Rooney: Van Persie would be a ‘great addition to the squad’

With the transfer saga surrounding current Arsenal captain Robin van Persie still very much uncertain, Manchester United star Wayne Rooney heaped praise on the Dutchman following Ferguson’s recent admission they are trying to keep in the hunt for the PFA Player of the Year.
As everyone is aware, Van Persie revealed in July that he would not be signing a contract extension at the Emirates issuing a public statement that cited displeasure with the way Arsenal would progress forward.
At the present stage, Arsenal have made three major signings that have signaled a much higher level of intent than in summers gone by, but whether this has been a move to try and persuade Van Persie to stay or rather to simply prepare for life after his departure still remains unclear.
