Starting the season with Chamakh up front? + Spare a thought for poor Man City

I wrote yesterday about how I felt Marouane Chamakh had just blown his last chance to impress in an Arsenal shirt. With Olivier Giroud and Lukas Podolski waiting for their chance at home plus the prospect of another striker to be brought in if and when we eventually get rid of Robin Van Persie I just couldn’t see how Chamakh with his lacklustre recent performances and clear lack of confidence would ever get another shot. Not for the first time it looks like I might have been wrong.
During his post-match interviews yesterday Arsene Wenger revealed that having been left off of the tour and with only one pre-season match to go our new signings would not be ready for the start of the season:
