This game was far from a walk in the park when you consider that Cameroon were to tackling what Stoke are to, well, tackling, but Team GB managed to secure the win they needed to make their way through to the quarter finals and once again Arsenal right-back Steph Houghton got herself on the scoresheet.
Houghton, who scored the winning goal in Team GB’s last match against New Zealand, managed to grab the third goal of the afternoon to cap what had been an impressive display by Team GB. The other goals were scored within five minutes of each other in the first half, one by Lincoln Ladies’ Casey Stoney and the second by Everton’s Jill Scott.
Steph Houghton has been an Arsenal player since 2010 and now has two goals in three appearances for Team GB.
There are six Arsenal ladies in the 18-person Team GB squad.
