In what is one of the most exciting finishes to a season, maybe even the greatest ever, Manchester City sealed the Barclays Premier League title. City needed to win at home against QPR to get their hands on the title after a 44 year wait. It seemed like all was lost, with 90 minutes played and 5 minutes added on, City were trailing 2-1.
But sensational added time goals from Edin Dzeko and Sergio Aguero ensured that the title was transferred from the red to blue half of Manchester. Manchester United, who won against Sunderland 1-0, via a Wayne Rooney goal, were crestfallen. With 90 minutes played in both Sunderland and Manchester, United were on course for a 20th title. News of Dzeko’s goal, which pulled City level, didn’t dent their celebrations much. But Aguero scored to break their rival hearts, setting off chaotic celebrations in the Etihad.
