Tiote not going to Arsenal

I’m not entirely sure why this is a story any more after Wenger said he wasn’t interested in signing the player, perhaps nobody believes Wenger when he talks about not signing a player, who knows, but quotes from people reported to be close to Newcastle’s Cheik Tiote have spoken today about the links with Arsenal so that should be the end of that really shouldn’t it?
Sources close to Tiote have said
Tiote is a good player, but he’s not on the way to Arsenal.
I don’t know who these sources are but if they are to be believed then the player doesn’t want to move and Arsene doesn’t want him anyway.  Will this stop him being linked with a move to Arsenal in the next few days as the window closes? Probably not as there is enough ambiguity with the fact that the quotes haven’t come directly from the Premier League midfielder.
