Vermaelen Vows He’s A Gunner For Life

Arsenal’s defensive stalwart Thomas Vermaelen has declared his love for Arsenal, and his immense respect and admiration of the man at the helm, Arsene Wenger and along with it, his delight on becoming a ‘real Gunner’.

Vermaelen joined Arsenal three years ago from Dutch club Ajax in a deal worth £7.5 million. His initial season at Arsenal was dogged by injuries, but has enjoyed an almost full campaign this time around.
After putting pen to paper on a new contract running till 2015, the Belgian has expressed his delight of being at Arsenal, and his respect for Wenger. He said, “I was sidelined for a long time with two nasty injuries. But it was under the orders of the manager that the board gave me a new contract until 2015. I can’t ­describe the joy that gave me.”
