Context is a powerful thing.
Yesterday Arsenal finally officially announced the signing of Olivier Giroud from Montpellier for a rumoured fee of £12 million, an event which despite us all knowing that it was going to happen for some weeks now, still provokes at least some of the childlike wonder and excitement that a reasonably big transfer deal should.
