In each of the last few seasons, there’s always been one unlucky Gunner who ends up spending the entirety (or at least the vast majority) of the season of the sidelines, plagued by injury. Not a leg break or anything overtly serious like that; but a niggling, continuously delayed, slightly ambiguous and confusing injury. It was Vermaelen in 10/11, Rosicky the year before, and this time, it fell to Jack Wilshere.
Now, lest we forget, Jack is the Arsenal fans’ favourite. He’s England’s great white hope. He’s one of the greatest young talents on earth. He has ‘Arsenal DNA’. He possesses one of the best left foots you’ve ever seen. He can pick out a pass that nobody else on the pitch can. He has the workrate and tenacity of his 10 teammates put together.
