Wenger: My desire is to keep Van Persie at the club

Despite the clear want-away status of the PFA Player of the Year Robin van Persie, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has reiterated his desire to keep the Dutchman at the Emirates.
As everyone is well aware, Van Persie released a public statement earlier this month stating his intentions to not extend his current contract with Arsenal.
Since then, a host of clubs have been linked with signing the Dutchman with the main suitors consisting of both the Manchester clubs and Italian side Juventus.
Wenger is quoted as saying on official Arsenal website Arsenal.com:
For me, Van Persie is one of the best strikers in the world, if not the best, and my desire is to keep him at the Club.
